Trumps Agenda
Donald Trumps website had very
little when it came to the matter of his stances on political issues. However I
was able to find almost all conservative politicians and there views on issue
on http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm.
Then I took a look at which issues Trump deemed most important throughout his
campaign and it was clear that budget and economy, immigration, and National
Security were his top three.
When it
came to the economy Trumps position was quite clear he planned to cut taxes
from 35 percent down to 15 percent on corporations to allow them to have a
larger budget for hiring American employees. This would also give some of the
larger corporate organizations incentives to keep them from moving overseas.
His ties to the business world and his experience in that area was what he used
to assure his acolytes that he would come through on his promises in this area.
Also when it came to the budget he had a few cost cutting planes like doing
away with the Environmental Protection Agency and lowering funds allocated to
the public education field both of these were highly controversial topics of
his.
Looking at
Trumps plans for immigration he had one of the strongest immigrations stances
we have seen in a long time, which at times came across as racist and
insensitive to minority groups. Trumps specific plans were to build a wall on
the U.S. and Mexico border and have Mexico somehow pay for it. Then he also
wanted to add 5000 more border patrol agents. This would add jobs to say the
least but as for where the funds would come from that is a mystery.
Last but
not least Trump had a strong stance on National Security. In my opinion his
ideas on this were very much in the right direction. He wanted to give the
power back to the military to let them do what they do so well. He saw no use
in having a politician controlling our military and deciding what was in our
best interest for national security. This certainly shows with his choice of Secretary
of Defense Mattis a retired Marine Corp General.
At the end
of the day Trumps agenda lines up very well with that of the political party.
The largest agenda of the party right now is Homeland Security and Trump
certainly has that covered.
Oppositional Agenda
Now if we analyze the opposition
and look at Ted Cruz and his political platforms he mostly focused on
government reform, foreign policy, and health care. All issues Trump tackled as
well but were not exactly on the top of his agenda. Cruz Like many others
attacked Trump for not having a large background when it came to foreign
policy. Cruz’s ideas when it comes to foreign policy are atrocious and idiotic to say the least though. He
would have kept oppressive leaders in office In the middle east to avoid a
fight and would most likely pull all troops out of Afghanistan. Obama already
did that once in Iraq you don’t have to have an I.Q. above 80 to figure out
that that would be a stupid idea. If we look at Cruz’s stances on Trumps top
agenda items they agree in certain areas. Both want to do away with the
Department of Education and Common Core. Both of them want to control illegal
immigration though Cruz’s stance on this is much more soft. However, when it
comes to National Security Cruz’s ideas on Foreign Policy already go to show
that as Commander and Chief he would make decisions that would be extremely
detrimental not only to this country but to others as well.
Media
The media certainly agrees with
Trump as to what his most important political agenda’s are. However, they don’t
agree with him on his stances and are very critical as to why these are his top
agendas. The Media constantly talks about his stances on immigration and his
racial insensitivity towards minorities. They believe his policy on illegal
immigration is terrifying. When the media discusses his cost cutting plans the
fact that he is blatantly uncaring about the environment and education system
is what tends to get the most news coverage. Last when discussing his putting
power back where it belongs in the military if you want to see the media’s
opinions on that all you
have to do is look at the most recent military bombing
in the Nangarhar Province in Afghanistan. The Media as usual is extremely
critical of the Military’s actions wondering how they could cause such damage
without causing civilian casualties. Battle damage assessment released this
morning confirms 36 Isis fighters’ dead and no civilian casualties, shocker;
the military might actually be good at their job. The media, however, continues
to attack Trump on his recent military and defense strategies.

I agree that Trump for the most part does line up with the political ideologies of the party, but I think republicans were more hesitant to show support in him as a representative of the party because of the way he delivered his beliefs and his most times insulting rhetoric.
