The first two news outlets I took a look at were the Washington Times and Fox news. Both had completely different stories brewing over the Trump administration but both gave great insights into their reporting style.
If we look at Fox news first their main story was over Trumps promise to have a tax plan put in place by August. Trumps administration has already said that this is nearly impossible and they don’t believe it will be done according to the scheduled time line. Fox was actually not critical of the president’s team in anyway. They were very supportive talking about how this is a normal occurrence when it comes to a party switch in the white house. It took Reagan two years to put in a tax plan and they seem to understand that the August promise was simply a normal campaign promise that Trump used to further his cause.

The Washington Times had a different angle on their story. The headliner was immigration, which the Trump administration has promised to crack down on. The story reported how immigration levels have decreased by 40 percent since Trump took office so clearly his promise in this area is being kept. The government ICE agency is also performing regular immigration raids uncovering mass amounts of illegal immigrants and deporting them. This article covers how a group called the Dreamers which is made up of young adults that are illegal immigrants are trying to fight back. They are trying to focus on individuals that are in the deportation process or have been deported that should be safe under president Obama’s DACA program. They have tried this with multiple people yet it always seems to backfire. Every time they try to use someone’s case as a rally cry that person is either released due to DACA or it is discovered that they broke the rules underlined as part of DACA. The Washington times reported this with little bias and truly just told the story and showed how the Trump administration while cracking down on immigration are still following the rules and are not just wildly deporting people for no reason. The Dreamers latest catch was a man named Juan Manuel Montes-Bojorquez who had been granted amnesty through DACA. However, it later came to the Dreamers attention that Montes had left the country without permission and committed a few crimes in this country violating his DACA status. I was surprised with the news stations unbiased reporting style especially with such a loaded case.
The third news outlet I took a look at was the Washington Post and their headline story on the Trump administration was how the public has been receiving mixed signals about the war in Syria and America’s Naval Strike Force headed toward the Korean Peninsula. The news outlet bashes Trump
and his administration but only on their ability to appoint people to keep this from happening. They report that Trump has been especially slow on appointing mid-level agency employees that usually coordinate all of this press and keep it on point with what is actually going on. However, it was still un-biased in reporting style it did seem a little more unforgiving than the two previous articles.
Looking at the stories I found it looks to me like the news outlets are the ones controlling these stories. However when it came to Fox News Trump Administration Officials had actually been interviewed and had some say in the story of Trumps tax plan. The other two outlets didn’t contact any Trump Officials and chose two very controversial issues. The issue choice is what really shows the news outlets bias. Fox was reporting on an important issue but a rather docile one that doesn’t need immediate attention. The Washington Post and the Washington Times chose to report on two issues that had been the front of the Trump campaigns controversial issues. This says to me these two outlets are more biased when it comes to the Trump Administration.
If I were to control press releases from the White House my go to at the moment would be the rising tensions in Syria, North Korea, and China. This was covered in the Washington Post Story but the Trump Administration wasn’t supplying their info. I would mostly discuss how Trumps worldwide crackdown actually gives our country a chance to be safe and basically is a clean up from the terrible job the Obama administration did when it came to National Security. Basically the Obama administration prayed everyday that North Korea wouldn’t develop a nuclear missile, that China wouldn’t back North Korea, and that the War in Syria wouldn’t get worse. Then they dropped all of that in Trumps lap when he left office.

The news outlets were a huge surprise, with all of the political opinion pieces floating around the internet it is nice to get some refreshing true reporting of the facts.

  1. Its going to be interesting to see how Trump's tax plan will actually work out. It makes sense that Fox News didn't criticize him regarding the Tax plan. Other media outlets would have a field day with this, calling his plan impossible to accomplish. Fox News would never bag on a fellow Conservative, even if it is Trump. Great Post!!

Trumps Agenda Donald Trumps website had very little when it came to the matter of his stances on political issues. However I was able to find almost all conservative politicians and there views on issue on http://www.ontheissues.org/default.htm . Then I took a look at which issues Trump deemed most important throughout his campaign and it was clear that budget and economy, immigration, and National Security were his top three.             When it came to the economy Trumps position was quite clear he planned to cut taxes from 35 percent down to 15 percent on corporations to allow them to have a larger budget for hiring American employees. This would also give some of the larger corporate organizations incentives to keep them from moving overseas. His ties to the business world and his experience in that area was what he used to assure his acolytes that he would come through on his promises in this area. Also when it came to t...

My pop culture item within the political race for the presidency I chose the Saturday Night live sketch of the first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Now both candidates in this sketch were portrayed by mostly their faults in order to create humor and who doesn’t love a good laugh right? However, Trumps image in which he worked so hard to build and then worked hard to rebuild after a few mistakes along the way was completely wrecked by the SNL crew.             First off Trump took great pride in looking the part physically all the way through the campaign. He was well groomed and wore the black suite with the red power tie to all of his events portraying a real sense of leadership and dominance. Alec Baldwin did portray Trump with the same suite yet the wig he used to make the hair was an awful resemblance. Even though Trumps hair is somewhat of an enigma it is not that bad. Second of all the make-up...
